Greenville University is seeking an ESL instructor to teach part-time in the University Pathways Program (an intensive English program for international students). The instructor would teach up to 9 hours a week. This position is supervised by the Academic Director of the University Pathways Program. 

Requirements The instructor should have:

  • Bachelors degree in teaching English as a second language, or teaching English to speakers of other languages; 

OR 

  • Bachelors degree in education, English, linguistics, applied linguistics, any foreign language, composition, bilingual/bicultural studies, reading, or speech; and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first year of employment as a noncredit instructor; 

OR 

  • Bachelors degree with any of the majors specified in subparagraph (2) above; and one year of experience teaching ESL in an accredited institution; and a certificate in teaching English as a second language, which may be completed concurrently during the first two years of employment as a noncredit instructor; 
  • Experience teaching ESL at all levels—beginning to advanced level 
  • A demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities. 
  • Provide instruction according to syllabi
